Located at 22916 Harrison Street, Lowell, Indiana, Pawshere Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) corporation, is a canine shelter, rescue and rehab for the lost, forgotten, abused and neglected. Established in 2007 Pawshere Foundation began because of one man's love for animals and his determination to give the homeless a place to lay their heads. Today Pawshere continues his legacy by providing food, care, training and a home to our beloved fur-friends. Whether it is a temporary stay before adoption or a forever place to live out their days, Pawshere is Here to give hope when there is none, love to the discarded and a voice to those without.
DEFINING PAWSHERE FOUNDATION
How do you define Pawshere Foundation? I had to think for a little bit when I began to write only because PawsHere can fit into so many categories of shelters as they are formally defined. So I figured instead of using an explanation that “fits” I thought I’d explain it by how we are different.
At PawsHere our dogs are kept at our facility located on approximately 5 acres. The property consists of three inside kennel buildings, two outside kennel runs, and a very large fenced pasture for our four-legged family to run and explore. We accept all dogs no matter the breed (but mostly house the wonderful all American mixed breeds), behavior, age or condition; however, once we are at capacity we no longer intake new residents. We stand by this practice in order to maintain our belief of not using euthanasia.
Once our dogs are taken into our care they stay with us for the rest of their lives or until they are adopted. This is a fact for every dog no matter their history or reason for coming to us. Old, scared, abused, neglected or abandoned - if given the chance to be loved any dog can be rehabilitated and at PawsHere they are given that chance.
PawsHere is a non-profit organization funded purely by community donations. Like all rescues the expenses can become overwhelming at times and we heavily rely on volunteers, so it is our goal to reach out to our local community and provide education, training and opportunities in the hopes of gaining your support so that we can continue doing the work that we so very much love to do.
So, to answer the original question, how would you define Pawshere Foundation? I guess to put it simply I would say we are….
Your Community’s All American Dog Sanctuary.
Thank you for your time and support. We can’t wait to build what we hope to be a long-lasting friendship.
